Do you want your own private guide, chef, and porters for your Salkantay trek?
This offer includes the sleeping bags, something which is normally rented for $10USD per person. You can also take a duffel bag or backpack for free (deposit required).
Private guides start at $75 per day, per person, and 3 meals a day, camping accommodation, porters and ponys, and a chef is included. Minimum of 4 days is required to complete the Salkantay Trek (Including a day in Machu Picchu).
If you already have your Machu Picchu ticket, it’s a $40USD discount, so the total price is $40 cheaper per person.
The Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu the best alternative to the Inca Trail and one of the top treks you can do in the world. Be prepared for stunning glacier lakes, high mountains, and a dramatic change of landscapes to high jungle and magnificent canyons on the third and fourth days. Perfect for those who want to try high altitude and long distance hiking. Ascending the Salkantay Pass of 4650 m (approx. 15,300 ft, higher than Mont Blanc) is challenging, but with the right preparation we know you’ll find this trek to be incredibly rewarding too.

We include all of the camping equipment necessary to ensure the comfort of our customers:
1 tent for every 2 people: the tents that we offer to our customers are spacious, modern, and have a capacity for 4 people.
5 extra kilos for the backpacks on horse (personal items)
Sleeping mats with a thickness of 5 centimeters
We have camps set up in every designated CAMPING SITE, which include:
Soraypampa: the tents are set up under a shelter to prevent our customers from being cold
Chaullay and Santa Teresa: the camping sites are spacious so that travelers can enjoy the open views to the fullest during their limited stay in each place.
The accommodation that is included in Hostel in the town of Aguas Calientes.

ITINERARY, 5 DAY 4 NIGHTS SALKANTAY TRAIL
DAY 1: CUSCO – MOLLEPATA – SORAYPAMPA
The tour starts with a pick up from your hostel between 4:00 and 4:30am. Then we will travel in a tour bus, passing through the towns of Izcuchaca and Limatambo and arriving at Mollepata (2900 meters/ 9500 feet) around 7:30 am. Here, there is the option to have breakfast or coffee for 5-10 soles (not included). You can also leave 5 kilos in a bag for the pack mules to carry. Afterwards, we will take a 1 hour shuttle ride to Challacancha (3380 meters/ 11,090 feet). The hike begins from this point, for 3 hours, arriving at Soraypampa (3900 meters /12,800 feet) around 1:30 pm. There we will eat our first lunch and leave our essentials in the first campsite. After lunch, we go to the beautiful glacier fed Lake Humantay.
LAKE HUMANTAY: After a 1 and ½ hour ascent, we will arrive at the impressive Lake Humantay (4220 meters/13,850 feet) where we can enjoy the turquoise colour of the lake and the snowy Humantay Mountain peak. Then we will make our 40 minute descent to our campsite in Soraypampa for tea time, which is at approximately 6:00 pm and after we will eat a delicious dinner prepared for us by our chefs. Finally, we will spend the night in our tents.

DAY 2: SORAYPAMPA – SALKANTAY PASS – CHAULLAY
At 5:00 am we will eat a nutritious breakfast so that later we can continue our hike. This is the longest day, involving 11 kms climbing, and 11kms in decent. We will leave from Soraypampa at 5:30 am and hike for 3 hours to the highest point at Abra Salkantay (Salkantay Pass), where we can enjoy views of the snow capped mountains of Salkantay, Humantay, Tucarhuay, and Pumasillo (4650 meters/ 15,250 feet). At the top of the pass, weather permitting, we will perform a native Incan ceremony. As we pass thorugh Salktanaypampa and Soyrococha, we stop to see a small lake, then we will begin the descent towards Huarachmachhay (3 hours) (3800 meters/ 12,470 feet). Here we will eat lunch and then we will continue the hike, taking note of the drastic change in landscape. After, we will continue our descent towards Chaullay (3 hours) (2900 meters/ 9500 feet) where our second campsite will be.

DAY 3: CHAULLAY – PLAYA SAHUAYACO – SANTA TERESA
We will have breakfast at 6.00 a.m. and shortly after begin hiking for 5 ½ hours through the jungle over many ascents and descents. In this area we will pass by many coffee and orchid plantations as well as many other plants used for medicinal purposes. We will arrive at our lunch spot in Playa Sahuayaco where we will have a buffet lunch and take a bus (which is included) to our campsite in Santa Teresa. Here you have the option to visit the thermal baths located in Cocalmayo (Santa Teresa), which is not included in the package. We will return to our campsite at 6.00 pm for tea and later dinner. Those that are doing the 4 day trek will go to Hidroelectica after lunch and continue to Aguas Calientes.

DAY 4: SANTA TERESA – HIDROELECTRICA – AGUAS CALIENTES:
In Santa Teresa we will begin the day with breakfast at 6:30 am and be ready to continue our hike for 3 hours towards Hidroeléctrica where we will have lunch in a restaurant. After lunch we will continue our hike for 3 more hours towards Aguas Calientes, along the train track, following the river canyon, where we will stay in a hostel and have a restaurant dinner at 6.30 pm.

DAY 5: AGUAS CALIENTES – MACHUPICCHU – CUSCO
The grand finale! We will wake up very early this morning for our visit to Machu Picchu, where we will have a guided tour of the citadel to see and learn about temples, terraces, and all of the incredible stone structures that make Machu Picchu a Wonder of the World. After the guided tour you will have free time for more photos and to continue exploring on your own. For those who have previously selected to climb *Huayna Picchu Mountain or *Machu Picchu Mountain, you will do so at your designated time (1st group: 6am to 8am, 2nd group: 9am to 11am)
After your tour in the park you will walk back to Hidroelectricas, to catch your bus back to Cusco at 3pm, arriving in Cusco around 10pm that night.
The other option is to take the train back to Ollantaybambo, and catch a bus from there to Cusco (This is at an additional cost, the train varies in price from $60-95USD). Please contact us if you would like to book the train.
